in Minnesota (iii)
short northern days
barren trees cast long gray shadows
on settling snow
Haiku is a revered form of poetry that originated in Japan. Over the years, the traditional haiku form, which evokes emotions largely through descriptions of scenes from nature, has been adapted to other languages. This site features original haiku in English by Kevin, an amateur haiku poet. He sometimes uses unconventional haiku styles, while attempting to maintain the traditional spirit of this timeless poetic form.

A complex yet simple beauty in the twisting shadows of the trees. Gray & white. Nature's artwork at her best.
Hi Dave, it is indeed wondrously beautiful and quiet here in northern Minnesota -- nature is at work in the snow, the wind, and the restfulness in between it all.
Peace

It is no longer snowy here in Detroit. Unseasonably warm, and rainy.
My yard is slimy as the early snows of November caught a crop of leaves which are now decomposing.
I kinda wish it were still snowy.
SafeT, I'm always glad to see snow. This is a good time to be in Minnesota, since it was in the 60s at home in DC this week, not the kind of weather I like in winter....
